While Madison is ground zero in the fight against Gov. Scott Walker?s (R) drive to eliminate the right of public service workers like nurses, teachers and others to bargain for good jobs, workers in towns and cities across the state are making their voices heard too.
Just yesterday, the Wisconsin AFL-CIO reports that there were more than two dozen rallies including actions in Appleton, Beloit, Berlin, Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Horicon, Janesville, Kenosha, La Crosse, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Platteville, River Falls, Sheboygan, Steven?s Point and Wausau.
Most events were held in the evening so that teachers, nurses, EMTs and other concerned citizens could attend after working hours. At these events, Wisconsinites took hold of their democracy and interacted with their representatives in their home districts.
Click for details on several of the rallies from the Wisconsin AFL-CIO blog.
