: FinancialCounselEccleston Law Launches Investigation of the Nutmeg Group, LLC for Allegedly Misappropriating Over $4 Million in Fund Assets
By James Eccleston
The attorneys at Eccleston Law have launched an investigation of the Northbrook, Illinois-based Nutmeg Group, LLC relating to its alleged misappropriation of over $4 million in investor funds, along with what is believed to have been an improper comingling of investor assets.
The SEC filed civil claims against the Nutmeg Group and its principals Randall and David Goulding. The SEC also named David Goulding, Inc., David Samuel, LLC, Financial Alchemy, LLC, Philly Financial, LLC, Samuel Wayne and Eric Irrgang as relief Defendants in its case.
According to the SEC complaint, the Nutmeg Group and the Gouldings misappropriated over $4 million in client assets by transferring them to third parties. The SEC complaint further alleges that Nutmeg did not fully document the investments, improperly commingled Fund assets, and cannot value the Funds' holdings. As a result, net asset and other investment values have been incorrectly reported to investors. Nutmeg has also failed to keep required books and records, and to keep assets with qualified custodians, which has further put client funds at risk.
