This has left our community at a disadvantage, as we have not been completely informed or represented.
The first time the public was informed of this hearing was only two days before it, which prompted public uproar. An article was posted in the Caledonian Record newspaper on Jan. 8. The article noted that McLeod began proceedings for this bill in August.
I would like you to take note of this while making your decision and to ask yourselves why McLeod would ask you to consider making such a motion without involving key representatives in the local area first - but would ask representatives who are 100 miles or more away? Also, why was the public accidentally informed about this bill two days before the hearing? This has left this small community more at odds and has done nothing to build the trust of local government.
