Maul and Deci are Law Cats of the Week

By Diane Murley

ADVERTISEMENTS

This week’s law cats are Maul and Baby Girl, who belong to Kerry Skinner, the law library’s acquisitions and serials librarian.

a teenaged Maul and Baby Girl

Kerry says:

Deci (AKA “Baby Girl”) and Maul were born in late June, 1998 on the Mesa Community College roof. At 3 days old they were found in a puddle on the ground after being washed off the roof by a violent monsoon. Their mother didn’t come back to get them (we think she was trapped the day before by the college), so I ended up bottle raising them. Since then, they have tried to work through their nine lives, but so far have lead a charmed life. Among other near misses, Deci had an exploratory surgery at age 3 for an obstruction that almost killed her and Maul survived being hit by a car after escaping from the house about a year ago. As you can see in the photos they are both healthy, fat and sassy. Their favorite pass time is to be wherever Mom is…they even help with research by walking across the computer keyboard or trying to turn pages of a book with the flick of a tail. Deci’s favorite place is perched on the plant shelf where she can survey the house and all who dare to enter.
