: Capital Defense WeeklyOklahoma: A recommendation for clemency
By Karl R. Keys, Esq.
ADVERTISEMENTS
The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board voted 4-1 Tuesday to recommend clemency for convicted killer Kevin Young. The board’s recommendation now goes to Gov. Brad Henry, who ultimately will decide whether to grant clemency. Young is scheduled to be executed on July 22.
Young appeared before the board on an electronic link to the state penitentiary in McAlester. He admitted his role in the crime but expressed remorse. Young says he never intended to shoot anyone but fired after he was shot by a restaurant patron.
