: New York Supreme Court Criminal Term LibraryPeter Braunstein Gets Another 23 Years for Kidnapping
By David Badertscher, PLL
Source: Crime and Justice News, July 18, 2008.
"Peter Braunstein insists that, for him, prison is freedom: feedom from his demons, from his mental woes, from a life of criminal thoughts that exploded in 2005 in an attack that earned him sensational headlines, a nationwide manhunt, exposure on the television show 'America's Most Wanted' and lengthy prison sentences in two states. 'I had freedom but it really wasn't palatable at all,' Braunstein said yesterday, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison yesterday for robbing and kidnapping of a psychiatrist while on the run from a bizarre sexual assault in New York City. He'll serve the Ohio setnence only if he ever gets out of a New York prison. "
"Braunstein, 44, dubbed "Pervy Pete" by the New York media, was sentenced to 18 years-to-life in New York last year after being convicted of posing as a firefighter and sexually assaulting a woman for 13 hours on Halloween 2005. 'As long as you never get out, that's all I care about,' the Ohio judge said yesterday. In an interview, Braunstein, a former journalist, said 'I had various careers and wore various hats (but) I was always trying to keep all these demons inside me caged. It just came out of the woodwork and I became a psychopath.' "
