: Legal Pad | LAL.A. lawyer Richard Purtich get two months in prison in Milberg case

Los Angeles lawyer Richard Purtich was sentenced to two months in prison and a $50,000 fine for helping make illegal kickbacks to a Milberg client who was a lead plaintiff in several the law firm's cases, The National Law Journal reported (here).
Purtich plead guilty to a tax charge in 2006 - admitting that he didn't tell the IRS that Milberg gave him about $900,000 in payments which were funneled to former Beverly Hill eye doctor Steven Cooperman.
His lawyer and federal prosecutors recommended probation.
The State Bar of California suspended Purtich's law license. He works as a contract paralegal, the Associated Press reported.
