If John Howard Could Turn Back Time

Some of you may remember former frequent commentator John Howard. Although Mr. Howard is obsessed with his pet issue (not allowing anyone other than a husband and wife conceive children) and inevitably reverts every comment thread in which he participates back to said issue, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He's polite enough (comparatively speaking). He's just really concerned about alternative forms of conception.

Okay, fine.

Yet, the other day, while perusing that one site he made some *interesting* comments to his amigos over at Opine.

1. Howard on Homos

Speaking of what his ideal America would look like, Mr. Howard writes,

"My america wouldn't stone adulterers and fornicators to death or hang homosexuals, but it would certainly have laws against those things and even enforce them now and then, if the offense becomes public, but the punishments would be like a few years in jail, max."

LOL. Oh. Only a few years in jail then? Thanks. I particularly like how he adds the "max" in there. That especially diminishes the reprehensibility of criminalizing homosexuality.

2. Howard on the War

Regarding the war, Mr. Howard opines,

"Fannie et al want to blame the war on evil Republicans, but it is really their war, they are the ones that hate Islam, not the Pope, not Christians, not marriage advocates. They should be the ones fighting it..."

Interesting. See, I have not really ever blogged about my thoughts on Islam. John Howard though, in true authoritarian form, just knows my thoughts on Islam before I even talk about it! For the record, while I do not like some aspects of fundamentalist Islam, it is a huge over-generalization to say that I and liberals hate all of Islam.

In addition, I don't believe Republicans are "evil." Although men like Howard see the world in black and white, I don't. Simple as that. For that matter, nor do I believe the war is the fault of Republicans. I see it more as a combo of a President who lied to us, propaganda, an unquestioning Congress, and a complacent and misled public. See how the world is more nuanced than Good and Evil, Mr. Howard?

In fact, Mr. Howard's delusional view of why we are at war is indicative of his Good versus Evil outlook of the world. He believes we, the US (Christians, I suppose), are at war with Islam. What about the weapons of mass destruction (lie)? What about the oil? What about "freeing the Iraqis" from an evil tyrant?

I don't think any of us common citizens know why President Bush wanted this war.

Oh wait, John Howard does!

He, apparently, fell hook, line, and sinker for the "We are at war with Evil (Islam)" bit.

By the way, Howard, if you want me to be "fighting" this war I've caused could you at least advocate for getting rid of that pesky gays in the military ban?

LOL.

3. Howard on Woman

Of the role of women in society and family, Mr. Howard says:

"And my america wouldn't make it a crime for women not to wear burkas or not allow women to work or get educated, but it would promote single-earner families and respect gender roles and marriage and promote modesty in dress."

Ha ha ha. You mean I can stay at home and make lots of babies (the natural way, of course), and I don't even have to wear a burka? Golly, that'd be swell.

In other words, let's regress at least 50 years and bring our country back to the good ole days when sodomy laws were on the books and women knew their place in society.

This is the same man who, by promoting his science-fiction-like "egg and sperm compromise," pretends to care about equality for same-sex couples. A man who regularly tells advocates for marriage equality that they are "harming families right now" by not agreeing to his compromise. A man who thinks that he would be being open-minded or compassionate by "only" making gay people be in a jail for a few years in "his" America. A man who comes here and to other gay blogs under the guise of caring about equality for same-sex couples but whose hetero male breadwinning patriarchal self is really very threatened by feminism and the LGBT rights movement. A man who believes that pro-gay and anti-gay bloggers who ban him and delete his posts are involved in a conspiracy to silence him and suppress the issue of same-sex conception.

John Howard, if you're reading this, you've been exposed for the anti-feminist, anti-gay bigot you are. Leftist Gender Warrior hereby gives you a coveted Freddy Award and declares you officially unwelcome in Fannie's Room, just one of many blogs from which you are banned. Sorry man. I tried. I really tried to take you seriously. But I just can't anymore knowing the depth of your bigoted thoughts and paranoid outlook on the world.

May this article serve as a heads-up to Howard's next troll victims.
