Book Club: An Update

I just wanted to remind everyone that the end of the month is growing near....so soon we will be moving on to the next book. I have the privilege of knowing the September book and plan on picking it up this week to begin reading (maybe some car-reading on the way to Ann Arbor?) so I can properly introduce it. Thank you April! If you didn't have time to pick up Beach Music, feel free to jump into things this month...and if you read Beach Music but have a busy September coming up, then well, take some time off. To each his own.

I can honestly say it is a book I would never pick up. Never. I would scoff at those who read it and roll my eyes and say "naah not for me"....however, I do know that if it lives up to its billing on Amazon (because isn't that where we all consult the masses?) that many of you will enjoy it. Without revealing too much, I'm 99.9% certain NOLA, The Artful Blogger, Anonymous Hottie, BISMOW & Eddie will enjoy it on subject matter alone. (I dare you to find this obscure common thread between them!) And even though I would never pick it up on my own, I'm pretty excited to read it because I kind of feel like that is the point of book club...that and I laughed and mocked my little brother for reading Harry Potter until I got so bored one Saturday afternoon I picked it up and fell in love. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

That said, plan time for your excursion to your favorite bookstore this weekend or next week (I'll probably reveal it on Friday) and in the meantime, start thinking about what you have to say about Beach Music. If you are done, feel free to shoot me your "review" (legallyblondeambition at gmail dot com) which can be anywhere from a few words to a few pages....or anywhere in between. You can be as negative or positive as you want, but be honest. After the "deadline" has passed (I'm thinking somewhere around Sept. 10th or so) I'll compile all the reviews into one big post (with proper credit to all contributors) and we can discuss. Or let our first comments be our one and only record. We'll see how it goes.....
