ADVERTISEMENTS
-Bonus points to anyone who can name that musical- Things around this blogger world has been pretty dismal lately. Katie, over at Overflowing Brain is dealing with a headache (going on over a week now) with no answers, Lanny is dealing with yet another death in her close circle of friends, and BISMOW has just taken another shovel-full of crappy health news regarding loved family members.
Me? I just have 6 or so odd days until my bar results & a broken spine. In all reality, that isn't all that bad. They are things that can be dealt with. Other than the aching knot that has become my stomach every time I think about next Wednesday. And the results. Of that stupid exam.
But, seeing as how things are sort of crappy for many people these days (and lets not even discuss the economy, the election, the price of gas or a gallon of milk, or what happened to my portfolio last week) I figured I'd put a challenge out there. I'm going to ask that each & every one of my blog readers, lurker or not, does something nice for someone else. It can be something small, only worth a few minutes of your time, or dollars out of your wallet, but it has to be for someone else.
Consider it a "pay it forward" sort of thing.
I'll start.
Last night, on my way home from my first Junior League meeting (once a sorority girl, always a sorority girl I suppose) I splurged & took a cab even though it really wasn't in my budget. And when I got home my total fare came to $8.25. I gave the cabbie a $10 and told him to keep the change. Even with the dollar gas-surcharge on cabs these days, I'm sure the cabbies are struggling to make ends meet & I'm sure there tips have been crappy lately. I know it isn't much, but it was a dollar I could have used later on, but at the same time, maybe it is a dollar that will help that man keep his electricity on, or buy his kids some new pencils for school.
So I urge you to leave a generous tip, hold an elevator, or donate some old clothes to a shelter. Comment on here with what you've done. For everyone that does something, I'll donate $5 to a charity of you- the readers- choice. So tell me what you've done & pick a charity.
Pay it forward.
