: LawPunditAdministrative Message to LawPundit Subscribers whose RSS Feeds may not have been working the past two days
By Andis Kaulins
The posting Eight Things All RSS Publishers Should Remember at CuteWriting has as its number one rule: 1. Using FeedBurner? Know the feed limit.
Google owned FeedBurner, which burns and handles our RSS feed, can not fetch more than 512 KB of content at any one time. The past two days we were apparently above that level, based on the respective 512 KB warning messages that we received from FeedBurner. Our RSS feeds were thus not working.
Our own check of the blog's file size ran only to about 350 KB, so that it is also possible - based on geek info obtained online about this problem - that some faulty source code in a recently added script may have been the culprit for the RSS failure, leading to some kind of buffer runover and the resulting error message.
In any case, since we lost a number of subscribers through this mishap, we have pared down the LawPundit blog again, removing a lot of extras in the left and right column margins and also reducing the number of blogs linked in our blog rolls - this downsizing in the spirit of Feng Shui is an ongoing process and more links and materials will be removed in coming days as we check all links and get rid of materials that are outdated or too byte-intensive.
This also has the advantage for our readers that LawPundit will now load faster.
All RSS feeds - by our own check - are now working again. Thank you for your understanding.
