Cookbook

ADVERTISEMENTS
Over the years I've amassed my much-loved recipe collection in many forms. Snippets from magazines. Recipe cards. Many a good idea printed from The Pioneer Woman & her cooking site.  PAG's Mama, who is quite the accomplished Italian chef, photocopies recipes she once typed up on a type-writer. My Mama sent me a collection printed on index cards, and then sometimes emails me more. Suffice to say, my recipes wouldn't all fit in a recipe box.

Enter, My Cook Book. It is from Williams-Sonoma. I love Williams-Sonoma. It could explain why I'm broke a lot of the time. I notice none of you suggested yesterday that I "Stop buying things from Williams-Sonoma" so I'm going to assume that I'm the only one with this problem.

(And those of you who suggested I knock off the Starbucks habit? Hmph. I'll think about it. So far, I'm not loving it. I miss my latte. But I have been packing my lunch every day. More boring, but of course, practical.)

This is where you can order your own recipe book. But let me explain its wonder. Or, how about I borrow their description?

A recipe collection can assume so many forms, from a well-edited, organized set of recipe cards to a stack of clippings and printouts. We designed this faux-leather binder to hold all your favorites in its 24 plastic sleeves: a dozen for clippings and a dozen for recipe cards. It also includes 12 plain-tab dividers with preprinted self-adhesive category labels, 24 5" x 7" recipe cards, a clippings envelope and a 12-page journal for recording dinner party menus and guest lists. As the finishing touch, we?ll personalize the binder with a name or monogram of up to 12 letters. Additional recipe cards and pages are sold separately. 12" sq. 2 1/4" thick. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

After my recipe book arrived one Christmas morning, I decided that while their extra recipe pages were lovely, so were the plastic "page sleeves" with 3 holes, sold at Office Max, $5 for 100. So I bought a box of them, and began organizing. And suddenly, all of my recipes live together. In organized harmony. A clipping in a sleeve, next to a few pages of index card recipes, followed by some printed off my email & stuck in a plastic sleeve. The plastic is nice when a dallop of dough or sauce splashes, as I've always just wiped the page off & continued about the kitchen.

I love this recipe book so much that when one of my closest friends got married, I ordered her one with her new, married initials. Then about 6 of us compiled our family favorites & filled the book up with everything from bread pudding to pasta primavera to baked salmon. We gave it to her as a shower gift...and you know what, she loved it. Or at least she said she did.

And I love mine.

This post was in no way sponsored by the love that is Williams-Sonoma. But hey, WS, if you stumble across this, you could totally mail me one of these:
Or one of these:

Thanks loves. XoXo.
