Haunting Update

By Anne Skove, Esq.

ADVERTISEMENTS

Does your old courthouse ever make you weep?

No, not because the ceiling fell in during a bad storm, or because you can't get funding to upgrade the technology to 20th century standards, but because it's haunted!

This is the case (allegedly!) in Decatur, Georgia. Who are they gonna call? The Georgia Research of Apparational Sightings of the Paranormal (GRASP)!

What else could explain the weird feeling people get when they see the old stairwell used for prisoners? Some report that they feel sadness, cold, and sense someone crying and protesting his guilt.

Hmmm, could it be...guilt? Georgia is where Troy Davis sits on death row while nearly every witness who put him there has recanted. It's where Genarlow Wilson was given a ten-year sentence for child molestation (he was 17, she was 15, both say it was consensual). It's where it takes a lawsuit to get representation promised by the Constitution. We'd feel sad and weird, too.

Hopefully, all this will be in GRASP's report. Critics will nevertheless complain that there weren't any prosecutors on the GRASP team, that GRASP is a tool of lefty public defenders, that non-believers in the paranormal weren't contacted, and that GRASP is comprised of people with a long history of opposing coldness and eerie feelings of guilt. They'll ask, "How can you investigate those haints?"
