Numbers have also been going down in Miami-Dade, according to the state's School Environmental Safety Incident Report. Miami-Dade Schools police interim Chief Charles Hurley said his department's own statistics show crime is down a little more than 29 percent from this time last year. The state collects data both on incidents that require police involvement and those that only require the attention of administrators, he said.
