College Football Teams 2008 Statistically Compared using cfbstats.com: Florida vs. Texas Tech

By Andis Kaulins

ADVERTISEMENTS
The current college football rating system by popular polls should be scrapped. A review of football statistics this season shows this clearly. Too much emphasis is being placed upon a team going undefeated against weak opposition, rather than on hard football facts. We have already shown that USC is the much better team when compared to Alabama. On the other hand, Oklahoma and Texas are very close. Let us now compare Florida and Texas Tech. Texas Tech has been ignored in favor of Oklahoma and Texas as the third man out in the BCS selection which allows for only two teams per conference in BCS bowls. How much weaker is it than Florida in terms of the stats?

College Football Teams 2008 Statistically Compared by LawPundit using statistics from cfbstats.com:

Florida vs. Texas Tech
In comparing these stats consider that the Massey Ratings rank the Florida schedule difficulty as the 23rd most difficult in the country and the Texas Tech schedule difficulty as the 13th most difficult. Sagarin at USATODAY.COM has the respective schedule difficulty as 28th for Florida and 26th for Texas Tech.
