Sunday to Monday Reader's Poll

By "Daisy Duke"

ADVERTISEMENTS
A few weeks ago (back when I could actually think about food without rolling my eyes and wondering if it too will make me feel horrible) I asked every about their favorite holiday food, and there were answers. Many answers that sounded delicious and made me want to be a part of your family. Partly because I have to endure Tasting The Stuffing every year to ensure, yup I still dislike it, and partly because of the canned apples and pears that my Grandmother insists on putting on the table. These canned apples and pears are cored & sliced and canned with a concoction so un-Holy that it will curl your hair. Even if it is already curly. The apples are an unnatural color of red, the pears green, and the fake cinnamon flavor is enough to make me pass out by just smelling the sick syrup. In short, they are disgusting and vile and I have to avoid them every year. They are more disgusting than stuffing, which is saying a lot. So I'm curious. What holiday foods (traditional or not) does your family insist on putting on the table that make you want to run away and hide? Everyone has to have one, whether you truly dislike canned fruit or jello-salad or the sourdough rock-hard rolls Aunt Ethel makes every year.

So tell me readers- what holiday foods do you dislike?

While you are thinking about food, don't forget to send me your holiday recipes & thanks to those who have already submitted!
