Source: Crime and Justice News, December 24, 2008.
"New York State Parole Board Chairman George Alexander, who who resigned Friday after an investigation by the state inspector general found that he took a government computer, is being prosecuted on felony charges by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, reports the Albany Times Union. Alexander and the attorney general's office had been negotiating a plea deal but could not reach a final agreement."
"Alexander, of Buffalo, had been director of the Erie County Probation Department. Before he left Erie County, he allegedly took a new laptop computer valued at $1,700 to his home. The laptop was purchased with state grant funds for a youth violence reduction program. An investigation found that the computer was used for personal business. In October, another parole board member, Chris Ortloff, was arrested for allegedly trying to set up a sexual liaison with two young sisters."
