"I have not been paid a dime"- Seeley Responds

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

Christopher J.. Seeley has responded to my earlier posts as follows:

?Dear Mr. Darer,

I am not a regular reader of your bulletin board, but was made aware of the many innacurate (sic.) allegations posted about me and my practice there and felt compelled to respond...

First and foremost, I have not been paid a dime by Northeast Settlement Funding, I have no financial relationship with them, nor do I plan to have one in the future. I received an inquiry from the gentleman who founded the firm, Northeast Settlements, about his idea for an ethical alternative to the unscrupulous organizations in the factoring industry. I responded to him that until it became an illegal practice to receive an advance for future payments, some small percentage of annuitants would inevitably seek advances and that I thought there was opportunity for an ethical factoring organization to provide annuitants with limited advances at reasonable rates. As a consequence of sub-letting space to this individual, it seems some of my contact info has found itself onto his site. This was done without my permission or knowledge and I have demanded that it be rectified immediately. I have been assured that this will not happen again. As you note, Northeast Settlement Funding has been around for about 6 weeks, and has to my knowledge yet to handle its first case. I am a dedicated professional member of the NSSTA and take my ethical responsibilities very seriously... I hold the interest of my clients above all, I have never advised an annuitant to seek cash in exchange for future payments, nor do I plan to do so ??

Non substantive portions of Mr. Seeley's message have been redacted. I hope what Mr. Seeley says in fact true. Isn't a lease a financial relationship?
