: ACS BlogOn Presidential Change and Challenges Awaiting New Administration
ACS yesterday hosted a panel discussion on challenges facing the forthcoming administration to making quick changes to some of the policy set during the Bush administration. The panelists, including Todd F. Gaziano, director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation, Peter M. Shane, professor of law and director of the Center for Law, Social Science and Public Policy at Ohio State University, and Rena Steinzor, professor of law at the University of Maryland, also explored some of the more difficult terrain that the Obama administration is likely to confront, such as last-minute regulation changes by the Bush administration. Video of the event is available here.
Regarding the raft of regulations that the Bush administration has worked to implement before its term expires, see the recent Issue Brief distributed by ACS dealing with restraints on such activity. Ryan Patrick Phair, a Washington, D.C. attorney, looks at the constitutional limits on the president’s ability to ram through last minute regulatory changes. That Issue Brief is available here.
