Report Calls Online Threats to Children Overblown

The Internet may not be such a dangerous place for children after all. A task force created by 49 state attorneys general to look into the problem of sexual solicitation of children online has concluded that there really is not a significant problem.Read more....The results of this study are not surprising given the histrionics surrounding sex crimes in general. The new Canyon County prosecutor John Bujak has made Internet crimes against children one of his top priorities (Idaho Press-Tribune, Jan 12, 2009).While it is clear that children are exploited in many ways, including via the Internet, prosecutors like Mr. Bujack would do well to broaden their approach.
