Most. Staggering. Statement. Ever.

Andrew Sullivan spotted this quote from Hugh Hewitt and it just has to be seen to be believed:

Unlike the TARP funds, which could conceivably come back to the taxpayer and which went mostly into financial stability efforts, the massive spending splurge unveiled by House Democrats is just a joke, an expression of eight years of pent-up liberal frustrations at fiscal discipline --the teenagers given a fifth and the car keys, out on a destructive joyride.

While I share Hewitt's concern about the Democrats' plans to add such massive debt in the name of economic growth, how in the world can he possibly refer to the last 8 years as being an example of "fiscal discipline"? He didn't just drink the koolaid, he has an IV pumping the stuff directly into his veins. It's an absolutely staggering statement.
