L.A. lawyers in inaugural attendance

Several California lawyers made the trek to Washington to attend President Obama?s inauguration on Tuesday.

Among the crowds, estimated at between 1.5 million and 3 million people, were lawyers from Los Angeles who obtained tickets to the event, which, at about $150 million, is the most expensive inauguration in history. Those lawyers included Steve Madison, a partner at Los Angeles-based Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, who donated $10,000 to the inauguration. He told the Daily Journal that he was ?kind of ambivalent? about going because of the ?whole schlep factor,? which includes finding transportation and lodging.

Another lawyer, Kenneth D. Sulzer, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Chicago?s Seyfarth Shaw, had tickets to the inauguration and planned to attend an event for alumni of Occidental College, a liberal arts college in Los Angeles where he became friends with Obama decades ago.
