That's a date I have been looking forward to since 11-2-04 when I was bitterly disappointed and irritated that GWB had been elected for a second term. At that time I never thought this day would come. And I certainly didn't think that this day would be the one where the nation's first African American President was sworn in. At the time I was looking forward to the day when it would be "anyone but Bush", no matter who that anyone happened to be.

I watched Obama's first foray into national politics at the 2004 convention and I was completly enchanted. I remember declaring shortly after that convention (before the depressing 2004 election) that some day that dude was going to be a major contender for President. But I never thought that in four short years he would actually be the President of the United States.

I was excited to watch the inaguration today, but I thought that after the excitment of watching Obama declare victory in downtown Chicago 2 months ago it was going to be a little bit of a let down. I was totally wrong. There was something immensly powerful about watching President Obama take his oath of office (and I like the fact that both Chief Justice Roberts and Obama showed that they are in fact human capable of an occasional minor fumble). It was certainly a day I won't soon forget.
