Texas Execution

Texas carried out it's third execution of 2009, last night in Huntsville.  Minutes earlier, the state of Oklahoma carried out its first execution of the year.  They were the fourth and fifth executions in the nation in 2009. AP has,"Two convicted killers executed in Texas, Oklahoma." According to TDCJ, an additional 11 execution dates are already set in 2009, including three next week.  More execution dates are expected to be added in the coming months. Last night's execution was the 426th in the state since 1982.  There have now been 1,141 executions in the nation since executions resumed in 1977.
