Dreier: "Alle haben es gewusst!"

In diese interessante Phase ist nun also auch die Causa Dreier eingetreten. Die ersten Ex-Angestellten stehen bereitwillig der Fachpresse Rede und Antwort:

Legal secretary Brad Lowary went to Dreier LLP for the money. Mr. Lowary said he earned $95,000 a year, which was $35,000 above market rate, during his 18 months at the firm.

Mr. Lowary, a legal secretary for 15 years, said he always "thought it was a little odd" that the firm's founder and sole equity partner, Marc S. Dreier "was living such a luxurious life" even for a litigator at the top of his game.

Mr. Dreier was indicted last week on charges that he had cheated hedge funds and investors of $400 million. He allegedly used the money to fund the operation of his law firm and to support a "lavish lifestyle" featuring numerous homes, a yacht, several high-end vehicles and expensive artwork.

Mr. Lowary, 35, said there was "so much waste" at the now bankrupt firm - huge bouquets of fresh flowers on every floor, secretaries making "well over $100,000, plus overtime" and overstaffed departments.

Es ist leider nicht überliefert, ob Mr. Lowary im Nachhinein einen Teil seines Gehalts mildtätigen Zwecken zur Verfügung gestellt hat.
