Thief Wedgied

By Kevin Underhill

ADVERTISEMENTS

Tighten your belt before trying to steal anything from the Brickyard Animal Hospital in Salt Lake, at least while Yvonne Morris is on duty.

Police said Morris spotted a man breaking into a co-worker's car in the parking lot, and confronted him.  He fled and Morris pursued.  She caught up to him but he "kept squirming away," according to the report, which continues, "Morris eventually grabbed the man's boxer shorts and pulled."

The wedgie seems to have slowed him down enough for Morris to grab the rest of him.  Police said she then put a headlock on the man until help arrived.

As far as I can tell, there are no other reported cases of wedgie apprehension.  According to the Wikipedia entry on wedgies, however (see also, e.g., "snuggie," "melvin," and/or the variants "atomic" or "hanging wedgie"), the phenomenon is "commonly featured in popular culture works, either as a form of low comedy or as a behavior representative of bullying."
