Extension of Supplemental Military Leave Benefits proposed by the New York Department of Civil Service

ADVERTISEMENTS
Extension of Supplemental Military Leave Benefits proposed by the New York Department of Civil Service
Proposed amendment to 4 NYCRR Sections 21.15 and 28-1.1 [I.D. No. CVS-07-09-00001-P]

The Department of Civil Service has filed a notice of its intent to amend the Attendance Rules for State officers and employees in the Classified Service extending the availability of supplemental military leave benefits for certain New York State employees until December 31, 2009.

The proposed Rule change would continue the availability of the single grant of supplemental military leave with pay and further leave at reduced pay through December 31, 2009, and to provide for separate grants of the greater of 22 working days or 30 calendar days of training leave at reduced pay during calendar year 2009.

The proposal notes that ?Union represented employees already receive these benefits pursuant to memoranda of understanding (MOUs) negotiated with the Governor's Office of Employee Relations."

The proposed rule amends section 21.15 of the Attendance Rules consistent with the current MOUs, and amends section 28-1.17 to extend equivalent benefits to employees serving in positions designated managerial or confidential.

The text of the proposed rule and any required statements and analyses may be obtained from Shirley LaPlante, NYS Department of Civil Service, Albany, NY 12239, (518) 473-6598, email: shirley.laplante@cs.state.ny.us

Data, views or arguments concerning the proposed amendments must be submitted to Judith I. Ratner, Deputy Commissioner and Counsel, NYS Department of Civil Service, within 45 days after publication of the notice in the New York State Register. The notice was posted in the NYS Register dated February 18, 2009.
