Public Service Announcement

I'm a 3L who hasn't given a crap about school for over a year, but wouldn't expect you to know this. It's also 1 month, 23 days until graduation, another fact I wouldn't expect you to know. However, I do assume that you know that this is the first Monday back after Spring Break. And I also assume that you are aware that your class is at 8:30am, that equals brutal in most people's books.

So, when you called on me at 8:45am for a case I of course didn't read, I didn't panic like some students, because I just don't care. Instead, I just politely told you that I was taking my "pass," which according to you I'm allowed to do once a semester. I'm not mad that after that you tried to grill me about why I hadn't read or that you tried to embarass me in front of 90 other students, or that you tried to make me feel guilty for not coming prepared to class, in fact I'm rather amused. Surely you noticed that more than 50% of the class was absent this morning, and surely you noticed that those of us who showed up weren't exactly paying attention, so surely you know that your little condesending lecture of me in class this morning didn't do a damn bit of good, but then again you seem pretty dense, so who knows for sure?

So consider this a public service announcement, I stopped caring about preparing for class over a year ago, and with a little over 6 weeks left to go I'm certainly not going to start preparing for class at this point. But please feel free to call on me next week, I guarantee I won't do the reading and I'll tell you I'm passing again. I also guarantee I will get the C that I need in your class to get my diploma, because after all class participation is only 5% of our final grade, which really means it doesn't count at all. I assure you that you will not be able to scare me into doing any of the reading that you assign, but if you really must stroke your own ego by belittling your students that's fine with me, just do us all a favor and spit out your gum before you start into your rant next time so that you avoid spraying the front two rows of the room with your unwanted spit.
