 A lawyer since 2003After years of rumors and comments on our humble little blog, and a press release yesterday by Buddy Nevins, the Backman family has made it official.Newbie lawyer Jeffrey Backman has signed up to run for County Court.  Click here to see the filing.What can we say? A lawyer since 2003, obviously running on the strength of the Backman name.  We can't even congratulate him on running against an inexperienced sitting judge who was doing a lousy job, like the similarly seasoned Judge Richards.  No, this one reeks of self-interest, and self-interest only.Does the Backman family really believe this is good for Broward?  Do they hope to confuse the electorate to secure a victory?  Is Judge Paul Backman going to use his influence and contacts to help his son?  Is he going to continue to help Junior with the all important condo vote?  Does Paul, in particular, really believe that Junior has the experience, capability, wisdom, and worldliness necessary to assume the awesome responsibilities of the bench?  Is there a reason why, after the troubling appointment of Stacy Ross, that the Backman family can't wait until Jeffrey has earned his stripes to run, as the Kaplans and Orlandos did?  Really, this stinks...continue to full post
