: [ Useless Dicta ]Conscience
When it comes to school work I'm not sure I really had much of a conscience about preparing for class by the time I hit my junior year of college. I prepared for the classes that I liked not because I felt a need to show up to class having done the reading, but because I actually liked the reading and would have done it on my own anyways. In law school, I prepared first semester of first year not because I liked the reading, but because I was pretty much scared sh*%less of being called on and ridiculed by a professor and I still gave a crap about what professors and classmates thought of me. After working harder than I ever worked in undergrad during that first semester of law school and getting mediocre grades I decided it just wasn't worth the stress and time it took to actually prepare for class, and that I suppose is where I lost my "conscience." It became clear to me that it was worth it to put time into my clinic and internship during second year because I actually liked the work, and that it was equally worth it to blow school off to have fun with my friends and keep up with the weekly drama on Grey's Anatomy, The Bachelor, and American Idol.
I suppose this really isn't an answer to WillibaldoEa's question, it's really just another useless rambling. But if I had to answer the question, I lost my "conscience" when I had finally been through enough of law school to become the jaded law student that I am today, the point at which that happens will probably vary for everyone.
Anyone else have any insight on this? When did you seasoned pros out there finally get fed up and stopped caring about law school (if you did)?
