A Pedal, A Paddle

Knee hurts since I overdid my little competition of 15.47 mi cycled in 60 minutes. I took last night off to let it rest and heal. Today its still sore but doesn't result in my yelping when I straighten and tighten it up. Ice, rest, and tlc were the order of the rest. Having been through many a knee issue, this was familiar territory to me. Bursitis, surgery on my knee, etc are under my belt and I know when enough is enough - last night was it.

I am incredibly pleased at my progress on the cycle and the muscles that are shaping from such endeavours. Learning how to push through the moments of "I don't wanna" are the biggest triumphs for me since I have bolted under less pressure from working out. The biggest wall I climbed was the morning after an incomplete workout due to hot weather, crawled my butt out of bed at 4 am and shuffled off to ride. Never thought I would see the day that my arse would willing get up to workout at a forsaken hour. I did it. I am stronger for it.

A peep of mine is under their own challenge to kayak 111km. I decided to join a similar challenge and bike that distance. Figured it would be cool to cheer a peep on during their Everest Challenge and join in on the same day to keep the morale and determination at a premium. Will be fun to see the progress.

My Everest is not a physical one like theirs. Mine will happen in four years when I sit for the California Bar Exam. This physical event will be a precursor to that and a way for me to condition myself mentally that I can achieve an Everest. This cycle of 111km will be my Denali, Law School Graduation my K2, and Bar will be Everest.

Sheer Determination and Tenacity are two qualities that will fuel and focus.

Ruck Hard.
