CRIMINAL: Year long study in the racial imbalances in Jefferson County juries now wishes to focus on prison populations

By Michael Stevens

ADVERTISEMENTS
In an era of financial constraints, I hate to say why it took a year to answer a question that sounded like the initial question in the first place.  Why is there a disproportionate number of African Americans in prison compared to the rest of the population?  The stats for the prison popultion were there at the beginning.  A year long scratching of the head should have brought forth more than a return to the same observation.
The question of the cause can be many, but the focus on whether the judicial system is unjust by way of jury selection or other causes remains the central, but unanswered question.  Here is the link to the full story in the Courier Journal.
