: Red Shoe RamblingsThe Rainbow Named J*
By NoReinsGirl
ADVERTISEMENTS
Despite the loss of Chris, the rainbow arrived in brilliant colours in the form of his sis...my cousin, J*. I hadn't talked with Jean since both of lead busy, busy lives and my Uncle is the one who keeps all parties on the same page. She's talked with Gramma several times but I wanted to reconnect with her.Did so these last few days.
Time melted and we've been emailing back and forth. The challenge is to sync up our schedules. I work days, school at night, sleep - repeat the cycle, ad nauseum. She works nights, sleeps days. This could be fun to get lined up well!
What an incredibly wonderful rainbow to have arrive at 5 am in the form of an email from her. I've SO missed her and am feeling such a crush of grief/joy/happiness/sadness all at once. She and her brother were two peas in a pod and so much is gone now...and so much is still here. The beauty of J is that she is a CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) nurse. She understood more than any of us the battle that Chris endured. She carries his legacy, I carry his legacy, my sisters carry his legacy.
Very soon we are doing lunch and it will be the first of many and will be as if no time has passed. Told her to lean hard, tuck in, and let us cousins carry her. We'll cry at first but I'll guarantee that we will be howling with laughter before we've finished our meal.
Trust me on this one.
Love you oodles, J. You rock.
