Sunday Baseball News: Another Triple Crown

By Calvin Massey

ADVERTISEMENTS

Inspired by co-blogger Tim Zinnecker's post on Yaz and other triple crown winners, I am moved to report that yesterday the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners (the high school in my summer community) won the Maine state baseball championship for their class.  It's their third state championship in five years: 2005, 2007, and 2009.  Deer Isle defeated Richmond 5-4.  One of the pleasures of being part of a small community is knowing some of the kids and the coaches.  Congratulations to Deer Isle-Stonington and high school baseball players everywhere.
