BREAKING: Unemployment Hits 9.5 Percent

The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 9.5 percent in June, up from 9.4 percent in May.

Some 467,000 jobs were lost last month, according to data released today by the Department of Labor.

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) increased by 433,000 over the month to 4.4 million and has more than tripled since the start of the recession in December 2007.
