By Anne Skove, Esq.
Court weddings seem so unromantic -- somehow bailiffs don't quite evoke the spirit of the occasion like ushers and bridesmaids do. But many courts are busy busy busy today performing wedding ceremonies:
- In New Orleans, "The Love Judge" makes every Valentine's Day wedding special, with roses, and historic views. Where else can you see a heart-bedecked judge? See The Love Judge: Valentine's Day Is a Big Wedding Day in KK Norman's Court, Angus Lind, Times-Picayune (February 13, 2008).
- In Atlanta, Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center is the busier than a Vegas wedding chapel. Free ceremonies will be available from 9 - 5. See Gwinnett Court Offers Free Mass Marriage, George Chidi, Atlanta Journal-Constitution (February 14, 2008).
- Newark suddenly gets all friendly today as its muni court plans to celebrate up to 125 weddings and civil unions. See Newark Court to Play Cupid with Valentine's Day Weddings, Star-Ledger (February 14, 2008).
