The Morning After

Champagne and I really don't get along very well. Champagne is that friend we all have, the one who when we're around them we do things we would never ever ever do without them. Oh champagne.

Thursday night was the big barzam is over celebration with tons of people from useless law. My entire crew was there (minus Fashionista who moved and took the barzam out of state) and we had an absolute blast. By the end of the night all of us had so much fun that none of us were able to drive home, so we hopped on the useless city light rail (which really is a poor excuse for public transportation) and headed to our various homes. Almost all of us live within walking distance of a park & ride lot so getting home and going back to get our cars in the morning was not a big deal. Trivia Boy however lives almost a mile away from the nearest park & ride lot but only about a 5 minute drive away from my place so we planned that he would crash on my couch for the evening and I'd take him back to his car the following morning.

That all would have gone according to plan had Trivia Boy not found the unopened bottle of champagne in my fridge, a left over bottle from the last day of law school celebration. It was 2:30am at this point, I was exhausted and ready to just get some sleep. He poured me a glass over my protests. We proceeded to finish the champagne, open a bottle of wine and before we knew it the sun was coming up around 6am. There was lots of intense conversation that night. Man that boy has baggage like you wouldn't believe. It came up that apparently Trivia Boy and Fashionista had a fling for a few months right before school ended but that things apparently went directly south as soon as she moved back to her home state, I had no idea that they were even very good friends, much less that they hadthat kind of friendship. About a half hour after finding that out (and another half a glass of wine later) it became totally obvious that Trivia Boy was hitting on me. He was completely drunk, I was drunk, it was not a good combination. There may or may not have been something more after that, but let's just say for the past day and a half I've been trying to figure it all out and geeze this is a confusing point to be at right now. Fashionista is coming out here in less than 2 weeks for our fabulous vacay. Things were going to be awkward between her and trivia boy because of the drama that happened with them before she left. But now I'm worried that I might have just added myself to that awkward equation. Yikes. Champagne and I should never ever ever be left alone with Trivia Boy ever again. Or any kind of alcohol for that matter.

So yes, my name is Useless Dicta, I make bad decisions when drunk, particularly when the buzz is from champagne.
