Settlement Planner gazumps competitor with "Local representation" Pitch then "Can't Perform" When It Matters

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

Heard an amusing story today about one of my competitors that markets on a national basis. You see this competitor (having worked on a small unrelated case involving the same plaintiffs, and thus learning of the new development from the life insurance company that copied him on the rated age used this information to...) apparently gazumped another highly qualified competitor with the hard sell directly to the plaintiffs (not the plaintiff attorney) of them "needing local representation".

Then when it came time to perform, well let's just say the gazumper was "totally limp".

In the end the gazumping settlement planner was fired and the original highly qualified competitor got the business.

It would be too much fun to name names here, but it's better to just keep you guessing who fumbled in the clutch.
