Sex Offender Registry? There [Was] An App For That

As Apple's iPhone gains ubiquity, strange applications are sure to appear.  The Washington Post has an article about one of the most popular paid applications entitled Offender Locator (available here), which purports to show where sex offenders live in relation to you. Some are asking whether this app is a good thing. UPDATE: The app has been pulled. From the Washington Post:While all 50 states require that sexual offenders register themselves, and allow anyone to access the information online, most people never look at it. That's why it's surprising that this app is a top seller ? especially considering that it's not free (it's $0.99). Certainly, it's good to be aware of these people living around you ? especially if they have committed acts against children, and you have children ? but it's interesting that it's the iPhone that is making such information "popular...continue to full post
