Ohio on Tuesday killed Jason Getsy. On Monday evening, the US Supreme Court rejected Getsy’s final appeal 5-4, with newly-confirmed Justice Sonia Sotomayor in the minority as she cast her first vote on the court in favor of delaying the execution.    The issue in the cert petition related to a lethal injection challenge, and most likely the time limitations imposed by circuit to bringing such a claim (two of the three judges on the panel in the Sixth Circuit explicitly indicated that the Circuit precedent needed to be revisited). Mr. Getsy’s execution has been controversial, to say the least.  This was a murder for hire prosecution.  Mr. Getsy was teh trigger man.  The man who payed for the hit  was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of release in 20 years...continue to full post
