Texas Execution

Texas is scheduled to carry out its second execution of 2010, tonight in Huntsville.  It would be the 449th Texas execution since 1982.  It will be the 210th execution conducted under Governor Rick Perry.  Texas has far and away the most active death chamber in America, accounting for more than 37% of the nation's post-Furman executions.  AP's Michael Graczyk reports, "Convicted killer of 2 at Texas ranch set to die," via the Dallas Morning News.In their appeals to the Supreme Court and to the Texas parole board, Gary Johnson's lawyers insisted the condemned prisoner was not violent, that he had lost one eye in a prison assault and was blind in another, that his health was poor and executing him would be unconstitutionally cruel...continue to full post
