: Practical ParalegalismTulsa County Bar Association Offers Associate Membership to Paralegals
By Lynne DeVenny
The Tulsa County Bar Association has officially recognized the importance of its area paralegals and legal assistants. Effective January 1, 2010, they can apply for associate membership, a non-voting status that allows them to participate in continuing legal education seminars offered by the group.A legal assistant or paralegal who meets the Oklahoma Bar Association's Minimum Qualification Standards for Legal Assistant/Paralegal dated 9/15/2000 (as it may hereinafter be amended) may become a legal assistant/paralegal member of the Corporation (TCBA) upon filing an application with the Board of Directors, together with evidence that the applicant meets at least one of the Oklahoma Bar Association's Qualification Standards, and paying the applicable dues. A legal assistant/paralegal member may not vote or hold office of the corporation. This is a great opportunity for Tulsa paralegals and legal assistants to expand their professional network and educational opportunities.
