How do I check the Iowa weather on I-80 and I-35?

By Steve Lombardi

ADVERTISEMENTS

Before heading out the door or if you have a Blackberry or some other mobile device handy, crank up your Internet web browser and point it towards the 511 Iowa Org for road conditions on I-80 and I-35 or for that matter I-235 along with I-380.

It's really pretty simple. The map is clear and leaves no doubt about what you're looking at. This map is what you will see.

But don't be checking it as your drive. Pull over or allow a passenger to let their fingers do the walking. Rest areas or fuel stops can work for you as well, but never while you're driving.

The state has done an excellent job of designing a map easily read and very visual. The blue means wet, green is normal, yellow partially covered, orange mostly covered, purple is completely covered, red means travel not advised and the red circle with the white horizontal line is road is closed to traffic and the last is black meaning there is no report. Let's go over it again.

The blue = wet.

Green = normal.

Yellow = partially covered.

Orange = mostly covered.

Purple = completely covered.

Red = travel not advised.

Red circle with the white horizontal line = road closed.

Black = no report.

Interstate 35 is a part of the United States Interstate Highway system running north-south from Duluth, Minnesota (at an intersection known as the Can of Worms) to Laredo, Texas. Its length is 1568.38 miles (2,524.06 km).

That's enough for today, but come back tomorrow to read The Verdict blog/blawg at Lombardi Law Firm or posts on the InjuryBoard – Des Moines, where I will discuss other car-truck-semi-motorcycle accidents in Iowa. And as always if you are in an accident and need legal services we encourage you to call us sooner, rather than later.
