Harry Reid told a Las Vegas rally yesterday he can get 56 Democratic votes for immigration reform with three voting no. According to the NY Times he also said "I want a handful of Republicans, a few Republicans, let them step forward...There is no excuse." There are two basic numbers Reid needs to consider. First, how many votes he would get in favor of reform. Second, how many Senators would vote to filibuster such legislation. The two numbers do not necessarily add up to 100.
