What will the browser look like in five years?
Just in case you hadn’t noticed, the latest frog in the boiling water experience is the slow emergence of a converged browser app that combines our usual productivity apps, mobile and OS. How much time do you spend in browser type apps versus dedicated apps? Advances in device interoperability, Java, HTML5, mobile bandwidth and cloud computing will finish off that trend until the next one comes along to subsume it. There will always be people working in institutions that prefer to stay well behind the curve. The direction of change is still well known to them, they’re just captive in the caboose instead of the engine.
Virtual reality anyone?
