: Arizona Bankruptcy Attorney BlogNo-name Cookies Vs. No-name Law Firms
By Joseph McDaniel, Esq.
He made "Famous Amos Cookies", or some such product.
He had to file a bankruptcy, and his name for the cookies, as a trademark, was valuable and non-exempt, and was sold to somebody who then produced cookies under the name Amos had previously used.
Now Amos was a cookie-maker without a name. So what did he do? He did what anybody smart would have done; he took his deficiency (he was now the cookie-maker without a name, after all), and turned it into an asset.
And started making and selling "Famous No-name Cookies".
I saw some once and, after learning the story (and I apologize if I got any of it wrong), I bought a lot, and will buy more when I think about it.
How about no-name law firms?
Well, I like no-name cookies.
But no-name law firms? Not so much.
Here's why: there are no good law firms. There are only good lawyers.
So with a no-name law firm, who do you get?
I don't know the answer to that one, either.
And for those of you who are curious, this is just a follow-up to my post about finding the best bankruptcy lawyer for your case in Scottsdale, Mesa, Paradise Valley, Chandler, Casa Grande, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, and Apache Junction.
And a no-name law firm is one with a name like "The We Help You File For Bankruptcy Law Firm", or the "Bankruptcy's R Us Law Firm".
Maybe they're the greatest thing since sliced bread (or Famous No-Name Cookies), but I want to be able to vet the guy working on cases, not a trade name. And such a trade name does not lend itself well to a Martindale search, or an AVVO search, or a Findlaw search.
