Facing an unprecedented budget crunch, the Harvard University cancelled print copies of more than 1,000 journal titles last year in favor of online subscriptions. And they’re is turning toward other universities to collaborate and share acquisitions, all while trying to maintain its libraries? stature in an increasingly digital world.

For Harvard?s library, an arduous digital shift schreibt der Boston Globe. In dem Artikel wird beschrieben, dass sich  ganz offensichtlich ein Arbeitsgebiet von BibliothekarInnen immer mehr weg von der “normalen” Beschaffung über Buchhändler und Verlage hin zur Verwaltung, Zugangskontrolle und natürlich auch zur Präsentation von eMedien verlagert. Das können wir bei uns in kleinerem Massstab auch beobachten….
