: PomTalkSecurities Class Action Filings Down For the Year
By Tamar Weinrib
As reported by the D&O Diary, despite a large number of significant, high-profile securities class action lawsuits filed during the first-half of 2010, overall filing levels for the first six months of 2010 are down from last year.
With the Supreme Court's recent decision in Morrison v. National Bank of Australia, which may severely curtail the rights of investors who purchased stock on foreign exchanges to bring actions under 10(b), the level of such filings may go down even further. It is imperative that investors familiarize themselves with the securities laws and common law causes of action in their states to understand the alternatives to 10(b) for redressing securities fraud. Please contact us with any questions you may have with regard to Morrison and its implications, or any other matter.
