Texas Execution

Texas carried out its 15th execution of 2010, tonight in Huntsville.  It was the state's 462nd execution since 1982.  Texas has far and away the most active death chamber in America, accounting for more than 37% of the nation's post-Furman executions.  The AP report on the execution of Derrick Jackson is, "Man executed for deaths of 2 Houston opera singers," via the Houston Chronicle.No last-day appeals were made to the courts Tuesday to try to block the 15th lethal injection this year in Texas, the nation's most active death penalty state. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals rejected an appeal Monday, and the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles turned down a clemency request.
