: inversecondemnationLive Blog Of Hawaii Senate Judicary Committee Hearing On Confirmation Of Katherine Leonard As Chief Justice (Tuesday August 3, at 9:30 a.m.)
By Robert Thomas (inversecondemnation.com)
On Tuesday, August 3, 2010, beginning at 9:30 a.m. (HST) -- assuming our technology cooperates -- we will begin our live blog of the Hawaii Senate Committee of Judiciary and Government Operations hearing on the confirmation of Katherine G. Leonard as Chief Justice to the Supreme Court of the State of Hawaii.
Come back to this page and follow along or comment. As long as you keep it civil and on-topic, commentary and questions are welcome.
Our lead blogger will be my Damon Key colleague Rebecca Copeland, whose last position was as a Deputy Solicitor General for the State of Hawaii, where she argued important appeals for the State. She will be attending the hearing and will be tracking the testimony in real time.
Also joining us will be Charles Foster, a Kauai attorney who blogs at Planet Kauai.
Here's what you need to know to get ready:
- Governor's Message (appointing Judge Leonard)
- Our resource page, which includes a summary of the opinions Judge Leonard authored during her tenure as a judge of the Intermediate Court of Appeals, and some thoughts on how to evaluate the nomination.
